Originally Deats name was found on 61st Squardon EM Roster dated 15 September 1945 as Sgt - these orders do not indicate what section or duty performed.

On Jan 14, 2005 we recieved orders from Birdell (Burly) Brellenthin, Radar Observer, Romserpt Crew (61st BS) regarding his crew. Among the orders received was SO-195 dated 17 Jul 1945 issued by HQ Davis-Monthan AAF - regarding movement of crews to Kearny AAF and Topeka AAF and further movement overseas (no later than 19 Jul 1945) which included Deats name and the names of his crewmates that made up the Porter Crew.

Note: The names of the rest of the Porter Crew also appear on the 61st Rosters dated Sept. 1945. It is unknown if they flew any missions at this time.
