Mr. Beverly was born Jan. 16, 1920. He was born in Clarke County (AL). He is the youngest child of Benjamin Franklin and Annie Gwyn Beverly. He attended Coffeeville High School, graduating in 1939 as valedictorian of his senior class.
He later served his country during World War II as a Flight Chief and Crew Chief in the 39th Bomber Group, participating in 33 B-29 Bomber missions over Japan.
He and his wife Addie of 63 yrs have 4 children; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He had a very successful career as a special agent with the Prudential Insurance Company of America before retiring in 1985.
He was an active member of Normandale United Methodist Church and then Whitfield Memorial United Methodist Church, when the two merged. He was active for many years in The Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding service to that organization. He actively supported The American Red Cross by donating over 18 gallons of blood during his lifetime. |
