The year is 1944. Marian Ames, a vibrant but fading movie legend has been providing the entertainment at The Hollywood Canteen with her all-girl band: long-time movie stand-in Jo Sterling on the clarinet, plumber turned piano player Topeka Abolelli, skittish niece Katie Gammersflugle on the bass, and the glamorous chorine Lilly McBain on the drums.
